Morning Fun

Sydney is one month old today. So what to do to celebrate?

Take. Lots. Of. Pictures.

She's such a happy baby in the morning. Much like her mom, she is super f\un in the morning but as the day goes by - she gets more and more tired. Poor baby. My favorite thing is her "monkey face" where she puckers her lips while trying to wake up. She also looooves to stretch just like her dad. Watching her wake up from her naps jus amazes me. Putting her down is also pretty entertaining. She refuses to go down quietly. She fights herself to sleep. Her eyes will open and close suddently. She will cryout for her binkie and when she sucks on it I just melt. She is absolutly amazing to me. I'm addicted.

Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving was really chill for 2011. We spent it again with the Scottorn family. It's so nice because Melissa also has a newborn - Karynn who is exactly 3 weeks older than Sydney. We hung out at their place all day. We enjoyed ham, potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole and cheesecake. We watched "the persuit of happyness" and "family man"

Sydney did fairly well. We stuck to her routine and she took two good naps. We also braved Black Friday because I wanted to price match diapers from Babies R Us to Walmart. We go to Walmat at 9:40 pm and it was already packed. Luckely we were going only for dipaers, wipes and some small stuff so we were out in 45 minutes. We got home at 10:40 pm

Sydney has been really rough the last week or so - mostly just at night. She sleeps great during the day and follows her routine like a dream but man after 7 pm she just cries and will not go down. We think she has gas issues and we have been to the ER twice because she won't poop for more than 30 hours. We have switched her formula and they think that might be it but it's been almost two weeks since we have changed it. It's been really hard to not want to quit with the routine but she does sooo good during the day. We will try to take her bedtime up because maybe she is just too tired. We will keep going at it :)

Sydney Week 2

Sorry to just post up Sydney's 2nd week pictures. I had NOOO idea taking care of a newborn could be so time consuming. Here are highlights of her 2nd and 3rd week:

1. Debbie and Gaylan were in town. They were super helpful. Specially Debbie - who saw the worse of my small depression period. I would just cry on the couch for no reason. She was there to litsen and to constantly build me up. My poor mom ego was just low and she made me believe that I was a good mom and even kept saying "you know your baby so well" "you are so bonded" - it may sound small but it made the biggest difference. I have to say that the best thing she bought me - my digital watch from Walmart. Could not live without it.

2. We ventured out to do some pretty crazy thing with a newborn. We went to watch Contegion at the movie theaters, we went out to eat, we went to the aquarium.

3. Sydney threw her first temper tandrum in the car on the way from the Aquarium to the Old Spagethi Factory. She hated being in her carseat and those 8 little blocks seemed like 45 miles. I was so pissed off at Tyson for not driving faster and refusing to break city laws. I just wanted my baby to be ok. I cried in the car(naturally) and just held her when we finally found a parking spot.

4. Sydney lost her ambilical cord at 12 days. It came off while debbie and I gave her a bath. She loves baths! She will cry a little bit when she first gets in but she is sooo happy in the warm water.

5. We took lots of videos of Sydney. We have a You Tube channel that I will post a link to. She's so funny.

6. We braved sacrament meeting on Sunday and I was sooo beyond tired. Tyson was just so excited to show Sydney off. I just wanted to sleep.

7. We eat at Chilli's, Cafe Rio, Ruby Tuesdays and had sandwhiches. Cooking just goes out the window when you have a newborn.

8. Sydney went to her first ped's appointment and had gone from 6.14 to 7.4 in weight :) she is growing.

Sydney First Week Pictures

Here is a recap of what we did my last week. I was 40 weeks and 4 days when I delivered her. Here are a few highlights.

1. We attended our ward Trunk Or Treat the day after I was due. EVERYONE was hoping I would not come. My RS president said to walk on a curve. Which I did. Tyson was a "serial killer" and I had Sydney in my belly.

2. My mom flew in the next day (10/29) and we spent the whole two days walking and walking to try and induce me.

3. I went into labor Sunday 10/30 around 7 pm while walking at Toys R Us. I went to the hospital at 11:45 pm. Contractions were every 4-3 minutes. I was admited dialated at a 4.

4. I progressed really fast. I went from a 4 - 9.5 dilated without an epidural because they did not think I would go so fast. I was freaking out when I found out how far I was because I did not want them to tell me it was too late for an epidural.

5. I got an epidural at 3 am. I was fully dialated and started pushing 15 minutes later. I pushed for three hours. She was born at 7:05 am.

6. I ended up staying at the hospital for 5 days. My brain had swelling and caused a viral infection in my left ear. I had vertigo really really bad the first 5 days. I could not really even hold Sydney because I was afraid to drop her. I was admitted Sunday night. Discharged Thursday at 3 pm. The staff at Good Samaritan Hospital were AMAZING!

7. I was able to spend 2 days at home with my mom and grandma before they left. They were amazing and cooked, cleaned and took care of me and Sydney. They watched her at night, they gave her her first sponge bath. They were so loving. I miss them alot.
