Sydney Tummy Time

This last weekend was pretty chill. Sunday we had a Welcome Warm Weather parkty with the Meakins and Johnsons. I wish I remembered to take pictures. We talked lots about parenting and discipline. They have two very well behaved girls.

We have been staying home lots. Sydney has been going to bed at 6:30 pm since we cut out one of her naps. I honestly can't believe babies can sleep so long. It's great. This makes me feel so much more confident for our second kids.

Sydney has been growing. My favorite time is in the morning. She as been trying to roll over - mostly side to side, but its the beginnings of some movements. I still cant' believe how llllooonnnggg her little fingers are. It's the same size as most 3 year olds. She continues to love chewing and sucking on any cloth close to her face. She is also enjoying her map more. She can't now play independantly for a good 15 minutes at a time.

Funny New Loves

Sydney has found blankets and she loves to chew on them. We got her a play mat for grab to and while she likes it a little bit, she loves it much more. She will grab the ring and the blanket and chew and play at the same time.

She has been really fussy the last couple of days and i'm afraid she is teething. I am terrifed of teething - just seems like such a cruel thing to go through. We got homeopathic pills for pain and have given her some pain medecine. It's been helping.

Birthday Recap

1. Went to Ikea and dinner at TGI Fridays.
2. Tyson cleaned the entire house
3. Fed the missionaries and had birthday cupcap
4. Tyson promised we could start looking at getting me an iPhone :)

28 was a great learning year. Lots of lesson and a beautiful baby. 29 will be another adventure. Some of my goals include losing my baby weight and hopefully getting pregnant again - in that order :) Saving for retirement, reading good books and keeping a simple and clutter free home.

Valentines Day Recap

Valentines Day was pretty chill. We put a cute banner up that we made from scratch. We had heart shaped pancakes too. Tyson came home from home and we ordered out some burgers. It was a really chill and fun day.

The Sunday before we had Chad and Sugey Ostergaard over for dinner. We had a great fancy dinner. Their baby girl is 8 weeks younger than Sydney. It was great to have them over.

Its been a pretty chill month. Both Tyson and I have been working and it's been going great. Ess has worked with our schedule alot. We love carpooling to work. Even though it will be for a short time - we count our blessings that we have it.

Sydney is so funny. She is very interested in faces. Our friend Meredith Hammond was holding her and kept saying "it's like she wants to say something, like she wants to talk back .." and it's true. We talked to Sydney alot. Maybe it's because we dont' have anyone else to talk to, but we talk alot. She cooes and gurgles and we gurgle back. She is fascinated by big eyes and mouths opening. She giggles when you first talk to her in the mornings.

I love her big eyes. She studies the room and quietly makes observations. She also has started doing the biggest puppy dog lips. It's the saddest and cutest thing you have ever seen. She looks JUST like Tyson. Her hair is finally becoming long enough to put on one side and not just a phohawk. I was taking pictures of her and could not stop marvaling at how BIG she is getting. I mean she looks like an actual little girl and I just love to see her grow. The other day she was on my shoulder, hanging on to my shirt like she wanted to make sure I couldn't get away. I melt when I think of her at nights. I'm forever grateful for my little girl . She is such an adventure.

Sydney Blessing Dress Pictures

So Sydney was blessed 01.01.12. The only problem was that being how it was new years day, every one had plans the night before. So Tyson spent the night getting everything ready - food, tables, decor, cleaning. We were exhausted for the next day, plus with my sister have her baby two days earlier, it was busy busy time.

The worse part was that we never got a picture of Sydney with her dress or as a family. I've been meaning to take pictures of her because the dress Debbier got her is GORGEOUS. I finally did it. She had a fun time wearing it and ultimatly chewing on it :)

Random Journal Entries

02.06.2012

This weekend was pretty chill. Tyson worked Saturday until 5:30, then came home. I got to go work out for 1.5 hours. It's awesome. I have to say, its funny because now that we have a baby I am actually working out more than before? Plus both Tyson and I now working so we can't go together anymore - something we use to love to do.

Like this morning. Tyson got up at 7 am to get Sydney and usually the other person would stay in bed to get extra sleep. Well I woke up instead and headed to the gym. I worked out for 45 minutes and was home by 8:20 am. Took a quick shower, Tyson had made pancakes, eat eat breakfast together, read scriptures, said prayers, cleaned up and I was out the door by 9:09 am. It was just really awesome. Having a baby has forced us to get great at time management. We use the 1.5 - 2 hours naps to get crazy and get stuff done. When Sydney is awake we do always try to pay attention to her. Tonight I will come home and spend time with Sydney while Tyson gets a turn to work out.

Who would have thought that having a baby would have such a benefit? Dont' get me wrong, there are nights when Sydney is up 2-3 times and I don't get out of bed to work out. But days like these make me feel great. I've been lacking lots of self steem because my body just feels odd to me. I want to be productive though and not complain but do something about it. I love the energy I feel PLUS I get to watch HGTV and just have "me" time. I come home refreshed and ready to love on my baby and hubby.

We had a fun time at a superbowl party with Jake and Meredith Hammond. We had the Robbins family there too. We eat lots of food and cheered on the Giants. Sydney did pretty good. Her whole schedule is off Sunday mornings for church. It makes me sooo sad to her so tried at church. We race home to give her a good quality nap and hope that Sundays don't ruin all the work we have tried to do.

Our nanny, Jennifer Marin, is watching sydney for the first time alone today. It was also the first HUGE storm Denver has had all winter. Were talking 2 feet of snow when we woke up. So poor Jennifer was stuck in the road. She got to our place just as soon as I had to leave. I have been txt her all morning and checking up. Jennifer is super great and is following our routine right now schedule.

I will leave work at 5:30 today so I can get home a little earlier. I'm grateful that we will have a nanny come to OUR house. I'm so thankful for Jennifer. It's still pretty scary but atleast it's only twice a week.

Yesterday Sydney and I went to Family Story Time at the library, then to Walmart to price match some pizza. Digorno for $2.20! That is Tyson's favorite pizza and I love to stock up when it goes on such a great sale. We come home and spent the rest of the day chilling at home. She went to bed at 7:15. She woke up several times last night but always went to sleep within 3 minutes of walking up.

01.27.2012

Today was my 2nd day back at work. My new property is super easy and super fun. It's all indoor and pretty easy. I'm 14 minutes away from home and I am close to Walmart and Sam's and my bread store. I am hoping to go to the bread store today during my lunch break. I am also close to a gas station so I can always fill up on the way home or my break.

Sydney slept from 7-11, dream feed, then woke up at 4:18 am but was not hungry. I changed her, reswaddled her and she was back in bed in 15 minutes. She was up at 7:20 am. We spent the morning together, we played in bed with Tyson, we eat breakfast and she was out by 8:20 am. She's so fun in the morning.

Tonight when I get home I will give her a bath, massage, cuddle and tuck her into bed. I count our blessings everyday. I'm so grateful I have Sydney and that we can live in our apartment rent free. The lord has opened up so many doors.

I also lost my cell phone last weekend. This has been the longest I have been without it - 6 days. I suspended my service with Walmart. This might be the real lost deal. If it is, I would really like an iPhone. But Tyson is making me wait. oh well..

My mom calls Sydney "Tysa" because she is the spitting image of her dad. Her blue eyes, light brown hair, super white complection - she is a Gerber baby for sure. Tyson has his own special way with Sydney. Last night around 8:45 pm she woke up and started crying. Then it went from whimpering to a scream that makes your body have goosebumps. It was like someone was in there. Of course we both ran in. Tyson picked her up and held her to his chest. She whimpered. Part of me wanted to take her into MY arms and sooth her. But I stood back. I saw Tyson handle her the way only a daddy could. She was safe. She was with her dad.

Having grown up without a dad, I realize how lucky Sydney is. It's one of the deepest wishes I wanted for my kids - a dad. A real dad. The kind that takes you scouting and shooting a bb gun. The kind that will change diapers but still be a firm believer in teaching hard work. Tyson is that. I am fortunate enough to have Tyson watch her exclusively once a week while I work. At first we were BOTH scared, but now I see what a blessing it is. He's getting to have a relationship with Sydney right from the start.

I love him. I love her. Together they make up what I had been wanting all my life.

Dancing ...

Sydney just melts on my shoulder when we dance. She turns puddy and just hangs on. I love it. Tyson has tried to have Sydney lay on his shoulder but she just won't do it. Mom has this one down :) We were dancing to "Gentle Savior" by Daniel Beck after church. I heart that song. He has an amazing voice.

(As you can see, this was not a good day for pictures...)

Three months fun stats:
Height: 23.5 inches
Weight: 11.12 lbs

1. Sydney found her fist last week - now she loves to eat it. We love to see her trying to eat her fingers. She's very focused.
2. Sydney sleeps much better. Most nights she sleeps 7:30-7:30 with a dream feed at 11. Some nights she still gets up to eat around 4 am. There has only been one night that she got up for just fun.
3. She eating 5-7 ounces per feeding. Sometimes at her dream feed she will chug 8 ounces.
4. She continues to love her baths.
5. Sydney is learning to play lots. she giggles and smiles, however, she sometimes does this while we are feeding her or trying to put her to bed. It's so hard to not want to play back but we keep it quiet. She sounds like she is gurguling her milk when she tries to smiles at us.
6. Tyson swears that Sydney said "hi" two weeks ago at 11 weeks. We caught a video of it.
7.Sydney is getting louder, we think she found her voice and likes to show it off.
8. She seems very focused at times - like she has this big goal to acomplish.
9. Sydney has giggled for the first time this month. When I kick her legs up for her she starts to really go! It's so fun.

This last month has felt really great. To me it seems like she has grown into a giant baby. She seem soooo big to me. She wears her 3 month clothes perfectly. Her 3 month pj's are a little too short for her, so we are starting to have her wear 6 months because she is so long.

Sydneys naps have became easier, she use to take 15 minutes to sooth down, now if we catch it, she will go to sleep in about 4 minutes and stay down. She has been such a joy. Church is still tough because she just will not go to sleep very long. I hate taking her out and disrupting her routine.
