Random Journal Entries

February 1st, 2013

Full term baby! I am now almost 38 weeks. I can't believe I have less than 2.5 weeks. My OB said even though I'm not dilated I could start labor pretty much any day. The only thing I am holding out for is February 15th, when my grandma arrives. It will make me feel better just knowing someone will be there with Sydney and have her stay at home.

It have been uncomfortable for about a month. I remember feeling sooo good with Sydney but looking back I think I was just scared of labor. My body is definitely achy and my belly just feel sooo big and heavy. I think that's the worst part - having this massive belly that make everything hurt but laying down hurts too.

My appetite is pretty settled down. My cravings were very little with this pregnancy. My love for water is still there and everytime I have a braxton hicks I run for the water. I guess the biggest difference between London and Sydney is the braxton hicks. I have ZERO with Sydney, but with London I have 5-6 per day.

Sydney keeps me busy busy all day. I am really stepping back on the "reaching down" for things. I do still try to play on the floor with her a lot during the day. She has also been kinda sick the last three days so I have been carrying her around more. Part of me know's I should not carry her, but the other part of me knows my time with just her is so close to ending.

I find myself rocking her a little longer at night. She will lay on my belly and shoulder and melts into relaxation. It melts my heart. She seems sooo big to me now. I'm sure when I see how little London is I will be amazed that Sydney was that little too.

I am trying to enjoy my last few weeks. Today I went to Panera Bread for lunch. I though "wow soon I won't be able to do this for atleast 6 months" meaning being in a restaurant by myself. I leaned back and took many deep breaths. I just tried to take it in. Every season in life has it's good benefits. I'm finally starting to realize how important it is for me to be alone and in quiet.

February 6th, 2013

I am **this** close to getting my blog book done! My goal is to finish it up tomorrow during Sydney's first nap. Today I called and pre paid our cell phones, Internet, life insurance and car insurance. This way I know I don't worry about checking out accounts or updating our mint.

The other small projects I need to do is :

1. Blog book
2. Do our taxes
3. Take out cash for eating out and grocery shopping
4. Cook 20 crockpot freezer meals

It's crazy to think that this time next month we will have a new member to our family. We are excited and scared. The three of us have such a good rhythm together. It's scary to think we will have to refigure it out all over again. Tyson has been a huge help this entire process. He starts a new promotion tomorrow and I can't imagine having to deal with that AND a wife about to have a baby. I'm excited for my grandma to come so he has less to worry about during the day and a good cooked meal at night (what do you mean cereal isn't a good meal?)

Prego sleep

Another night of tossing, turning, peeing, waking up at 5 and NOT being able to go back to sleep. I tried counting sheep, changing positions, saying prayers - nothing worked. After trying to go back to bed, I got on my phone and did my shopping list for the week, research bad breath causes in toddlers and looked up why we might be getting sore throats ( I got inspired to get new toothbrushes, so we'll see if that helps).

Finally around 630 my body started getting tired. I drifted off the sleep. Since it was Tyson's morning he let me sleep in until 830. I woke up and still felt like a truck ran over me. I do so much better going to bed earlier and waking up earlier. My body feels awful if I wake up and can't go back to sleep and as a result at 7 pm I am BEYOND exhausted.

Last night poor Tyson took one look at me and said "wow Sydney what did you do to mama?". I'm so excited to start working out again. I wish I would have been more diligent about walking more when I was first pregnant. I could blame it on Sydney being just 6 months old, morning sickness, too busy but really I need to remember that I do SOO much better when I am active. My friend Kayla is letting me borrow her treadmill after London is born. My goal is to just start walking 3 weeks after she is born, if only for 15 minutes. I want to establish a good habit again.

Weekend Recap

It seems these days I can get a post a week in - usually Monday's while I work. This last weekend was actually really really busy. Usually it would not be a big deal to have plans every night but being 9 months pregnant really makes me want to do nothing but sit at home and rest.

Friday we had our babysitting coopp watch Sydney.Tyson and I returned a stroller to Target and the hit Wild Buffalo Wings for dinner. We've never been there. The atmosphere was very "hip" with a bizillion big screen TV's and sports games all around us. It was a fast paced place! We shared the wings and I have to say it was pretty good - not amazing but pretty good. After sharing wings we went across the street and shared ice cream at Cold Stone - yum. It was funny because the placed was packed! Looks like were were not the only crazy ones wanting ice cream in the middle of winter. We picked up Sydney at 815 and she was in bed by 830. The funny thing is that even thought she was in bed an hour later than usual, she still woke up at the exact same time. sigh. Kids will be kids.

Saturday we spent lots of time outside since the weather was so nice. We walked and played in the rocks. By 5 pm I could tell me body was done. Tyson got off at 530 and was excited to go hang out with Danny and Sugey but I just could not do it. Tyson was so sweet and took Sydney while I stayed home and rested on the couch. I watched some Downtown Abbey and rested. They got home at 730, we put Sydney down and then I was in bed at 9 pm.

Sunday we had a GREAT day. Sydney took a nice long 2 hour nap in the morning and we were able to sneak her into NURSERY! It was awesome. She did amazing. She loved playing and was sharing and seemed more upset when we took her home. It was amazing to go to Sunday school with Tyson. It's been a good 8 months since we could do that. After church we had dinner with the Hutchinson's new gorgeous home. The hammonds, Ellis and another family also joined us. We had a blast. We left at 715 and Sydney was in bed by 745.

You know I bet most people think I am getting so much rest because I go to bed so early - but let me tell you my friends. It's been really rought the last couple of weeks.

My body is pretty uncomfortable - to put it lightly. Like last night, I went to bed at 9 but I tossed, turned, went to the bathroom, tossed, turned some more, more bathroom, Sydney gets up at 4 am, put to binkie in, then I can't sleep for an hour, sit in bed and talk to God, finally sleep at 530 am again, Sydney up at 645, Ty gets her .... you get the point. Both Tyson and I are really tired these days. To a point I know it's getting us ready for London, but man I'm getting pretty sick of sitting in bed and not able to get any actual sleep. I'm happy to report both Tyson and I are feeling much better after a quick brush with a cold. Sydney has had a runny nose but she is also breaking two teeth, so I'm thinking it's that vs she is sick.

It was a great and busy weekend. I'm trying to really enjoy them before London comes and we become hermits lol.

Some happenings

Not much happening around here. Denver has had a really cold week or so, plus the worst flu outbreak in a couple of years. All this equals us staying indoors all day. Most of the time I can keep us busy with little projects around the house. I'm in major nesting mode - which for me equals purging and donating. I've been busy posting stuff on craigslist that I can sell fast. It's nice to get rid of stuff, help someone else and clear the house.

My big project that I'm slowing tackling is my 2011/2012 blog book. I must finish it before the baby comes so I don't worry about it. Yesterday we picked up a rocking chair that Celeste and Brian Hutchinson so generously gave to us. Its gorgeous and white! The best part is that it dosent squeek. The other white rocker was reapuslered but the material and wood squeek so Sydney had to get use to the noise. This new rocker dosent make a single noise! It's awesome.

So most days we keep busy, other days we get cabin fever. I try to look at the week ahead and see which days are the best weather and try to venture out. We also get to have play dates every other Friday with the Scottorns which help Sydney interact.

This week Tyson and I get a date night on Friday. We're excited to go have dinner or read of anything alone before the new baby comes. My body is getting more and more awckard. Last night I work MYSELF up 4 times with my weird breathing. I'm pretty sure all the pressure on my diapharm makes it really hard for me to breath at night. I wake up and I can tell my throat is soar from breathing through my mouth rather than my nose. I'm excited to sleep better even if it's shorter.

ps. We made "bath paint" for Sydney yesterday and had her first attempt at it. She took her time but ended up warming up to it. It was fun to see her get messy. I think I'm gonna try it in her high chair next time.

Cute Sydney Pictures

Ah the new year! A time to start anew and make goals. Usually I'm pretty strick about setting very specific goals - however with a 14 month old and a new baby due next month, I've decided to be much more general about goals. I don't like goals that make me feel like a failure 6 months into it. So here are my goals for 2013:

1. Have a healthy birth for London
2. Simplify my house, clothes and kitchen to make the life easier
3. Continue to read to Sydney at lunch at least 4 times a week
4. Continue to freezer cook
5. Lose my baby weight by London's 6 month birthday
6. Fully fun both our IRA's
7. Continue family prayers and reading 4 scriptures every night as a family.
8. Attend church weekly
9. Stablish a routine for London
10. Keep Tyson a top priority as husband.

The weeks after Christmas have flown by. It's nice to finally get back into the normal - although sometimes it feels a little boring. I hear January is the most depressing month of the year. I can totally see why - thankfully Denver has LOTS of sunshine and I can go out a couple times a week and soak up some sun.

I'm getting to the really really tired stage in the last 6 weeks of this pregnancy. I'm starting to get scared of labor and what having a newborn will be like again. I have to think that it has to be a little bit easier. I remember Sydney really rocked our world but she was our first. I know now that we won't die and that if we work together we will make it through.

Tyson has been really cute and has such a neat relationship with Sydney. He is very much more firm and Sydney knows when he means business. She's begining to test boundaries but also learning to follow simple directions and "helps" around a little bit more. It's such a process. The simplest rules takes hours of practice and repetition to achieve.

The focus right now is for sure getting ready for London. My goals for this week is to actually pack my hospital bag and make room in the laundry room for my grandma and mom to put their stuff inside. My grandma plans on staying with us for almost a month and I want to make sure she has a specific place to put her stuff so the house stays cleaner.

8.5 months pregnant and surprise visit

It's Saturday night (12/29) I'm standing in the kitchen icing a chocolate cake for Jay and Sarah's Bugarin's party. Tyson is playing with Sydney in the front room. All of the sudden we get a nock on the door. Odd? It was only 430 and the office is open so it shouldn't be a customer. Tyson goes to the door and all of the sudden I hear a scream of joy! I run to the front room and my MOM IS IN THE ROOM! My parents drove 8 hours to surprise us with a visit!

I was amazed! I was so happy! It was a Christmas miracle - sort of. After 5 minutes of hugging and realizing they were ACTUALLY here we unpacked their car. I showed mom my half organized nursery and the little projects I needed help with.

We were suppose to go have dinner at the Bugarin's house but felt bad so we called to cancel but they INSISTED we come with my parents. We had a great dinner and a great time chatting. We sung happy birthday and were home by 715 pm. We put Sydney to bed and the boys headed down stairs to watch a game. My mom and I talked for hours. We talked about parenting, in-laws, routines, work .... everything. It was awesome. At 1030 we went to bed.

Sunday I could not sleep so I was up at 530 am. I took a shower, headed down stairs to prepare my Sunday School lesson. Mom got up and heard Sydney and got her up too. We played downstairs and took down our Christmas decorations. So happy! My mom quickly got to work and cleaned my downstairs, dusted everything, cleaned my fridge, started laundry - she's amazing!

Tyson and I headed to church and for the first time in 7 months attended Sunday school together. I taught a  great lesson, Tyson participated  and we headed home after. We got home and we tackled the nursery. It was a big job but we got it done and succesfully now have Sydney in the new room. We also took out ALL our 0-3 months clothes, washed them and organized them for London. We sorted clothes and put alway all the 12 months clothes and just kept out the 18 months clothes.

I know it sounds weird but doing all of this took a big stress off my shoulders. We then headed to Bed Bath and Beyond to buy some organizing bins and a dresser divider.

We ordered chinise and had dinner. Poor Sydney was super tired because she got up so early so she was in bed and out at 7 pm. It was awesome. Sunday night I slept much better and got up at 630 but stayed in bed. Monday sadly I had to work and even though I attempted everything to get coverage, I found nothing. We did meet up for lunch at my favorite place - Panera Bread. We shared a great meal and then walked around Target.

That night we went to a new years party at the Ashby home. We stayed until 8 pm and headed home. We put on the movie the guardian but I was in bed by 945 and everyone else followed by 1015 - being parents is soooo cool :)

The next morning my parents headed back to Utah but not before taking us out to breakfast at IHOP.

It was an AMAZING visit. We got so much done and organized for baby London. I feel so blessed to have such great parents. I love you mom and fredy!

Christmas part 2
