We made it! 2020 is officially over.
This year has been stretching, scary and sometimes just downright hard. The pandemic, losing clients, finding clients, crazy work projects for both of us ... there have been times that this year hs felt so overwhelming.
I am thankful we made it through. I am grateful for the many blessings God poured on us this year.
New years eve was pretty chill. We started to slowly put away the tree - usually we are fast and furious about it - but this year the tree lights brought so much beauty to the home. We have kept it up longer and slowly taking the ornaments first on New Years Eve. Tyson and I worked out in the afternoon. We cleaned, I took a walk, we read ... Then the Blakely's came over at 6 for a fun and simple dinner. We also played a new game called Beat That.
We did a countdown at 830 PM and watched the Sydney Countdown and the London Countdown.
We did a fun toast with Martinellis and then hugged.
The Blakely's left at 9 pm and we did a quick clean up (big bonus for the minimalism move). Then all 4 of us kind of gravitated toward the couch. We talked about the crazy year it's been, what will hope will change and what we hope will stay the same.
Then at 9:45 PM - we turned on the live NYC coverage. We watched some musical acts, we made comments about the first responders that were invited to attend the NYC celebration. Then we counted down the call. We all hugged and kissed. We all 4 sat really close, cuddling and being deeply grateful to be together, to be healthy and to be a family. Those 5 minutes were so tender. For a few minutes everything stood still and everything was ok. I am grateful for the lesson's taught to us in 2020.
At 10:15 I was done, but the girls and Tyson still had so much energy. So I went to bed and they all stayed up until midnight - crazy! I went to bed and all my family was sending each other photos - and they were all pretty much in bed too - ha!
In many ways - all the scary and uncertainty actually blessed us with deep discipline and focused motivation to hit our goals even faster. We got back in touch with the simple things that bring happiness. I am grateful to say that for the most part - our values, our priorities and how we spent our times and money made me really proud and grateful.
Here's to 2021 and whatever lesson's it may teach us.
