March 2026

Oh my goodness, I am feeling so busy, but I wanted to take a moment to talk about March and some of the really cool things that happened for our family.

Two main things stand out:
  1. My Abuelita turned 90, and we traveled to Utah to spend five days with her family. It was amazing to spend time with her family, see good friends, and visit my parents, and it was a nice change of pace. Funny thing: right before we left, Tyson happened to be in Vegas for a three-day basketball palooza with his family, so it was really neat to have him there for a bit.

  2. The girls had their big, final dance recital at BHMS. The teacher who has run this program retired after 30 years, and although we’ve only had experience with it for three years (since Sydney started when she was in sixth grade), I can see the huge impact it has had on the kids. I feel like a lot of these kids were inspired to be part of this, kids who probably didn’t always fit in and felt a little outcast. The teacher and the entire experience were very inclusive, and it was really sweet. I am so thankful my kids got to be involved, even though it was a lot of work leading up to it. It’s a serious commitment, but when you see the performance, you just see the dedication and the hard work, and it’s very endearing.
A few other things in March: during our Utah trip, we got to see my mom receive her 25-year certificate of service at the Grand America. I had so many thoughts on the commitment, patience, grit, and endurance it takes for someone to last in a relationship, at work, in church, or anything like that. I especially revere this event because my mom has had so many things happen in those 25 years. It wasn’t just that she got up and went to work (although that in itself is a feat, especially at 5:00 a.m.). It was all the other shifts she made, all the other transformations she saw and endured during that time with her kids, with her marriage, with her family. It was amazing, and I am so thankful I got to see her and have pictures of that sweet moment.

March was a lot, but it was busy with things I will look back on and be so thankful for. It was not time wasted; it was not energy waste. It was energy put into things that are intentional and so good, and I’m thankful for that.
