It's here! The day I have been dreaming of is here!
I remember February 2015 - when we came and saw this nasty, old house that smelled like cat pee and had unfinished floors, mold and a toilet in the back as a planter ... it was bad.
But I remember walking to the unkept deck and seeing the school. Instantly I had thoughts of my girls walking to school together and me being close enough to be active and available. I had dreams of them riding bikes and roller blades in the parking lots, walking to Parent Teacher Conferences and just creating this little world of support, love and independence for my girls.
Well today is THAT day! With bright backpacks, bows in their hairs and snacks in their hands ... my girls walked to school together. Sydney felt like the big sister showing London where to go - and London beaming with excited to finally go to the big school with her friends.
This house has cost us money, time, energy and sanity - and yet my dream always kept me going. It's unreal to see my girls here. I am so blessed.
Sydney took off like a little pony to her class- beyond excited to have Mrs. Tateyama. London was a little nervous, but quickly saw Kately, Ivy and other friends - and she loved Mrs. Hoff. I think Mrs. Hoff will be perfect for her.
I stayed for an hour and we made a calm down bottle and right when the parents were asked to leave - I got just a little sad. Sad to see my London grow but beyond proud. London came, gave me a hug and just like that she was off to play with friends.
How blessed I am to give this to my girls. They are the luckiest girls in the world.
I walked out with Amanda Calley - who shed some tears but was so happy to Katelyn. We said goodbye and I walked to my little backyard. The same one who had a million snakes 3 years before - now is a beautiful place where friends gather often to play games, ride bikes and live life.
I am so grateful we took a chance on this house. It was so hard! But so worth it.
Happy 1st day of school sweet Gerber girls.
PS. I have to say that the day before on Wednesday was London's last day at Goddard. We truly have been blessed to have our girls at Goddard for over 3 years. They have seen both of our girls grow. They were sad to see us go and we will sad to leave - but the memories there will always stay with us.
