Monday Madness

Monday was fun. We woke up a little late and rushed to our Managers Meeting at the Primerica office. We watched PFN and followed up on business. After we headed home to eat lunch - we had rice and sausage meat. I was actually really yummy. Melissa and I have started to keep food journals and I write mine down in a big calendar in my kitchen.

After Tyson said he wanted to just do something as a couple. We decided to hit Elvis Theaters - it's the closes thing to a dollar theater that Colorado has. Regular movies here are $10 each - thats a whopping $20 to just sit there. Elvis theaters are $2.5 before 6 and $3.5 after. The movies are a little old but hey since we don't have a TV we don't miss it much. We decide to see the "Last Airbender" and it was actually really cool. We totally went crazy and got a medium popcorn plus two tickets -total was $8.50! It was still more than usual because of the popcorn but it was really fun to have popcorn.

The only bad thing was that I forgot how much I like popcorn. I mean if I start eating it - I. cant. stop. I ate almost the entire thing and then we got a .50 refill. I got really, really, really sick. Dumb Martha. Seriously this is why I don't get popcorn - or candy, because I have a hard time with self control. Honestly that little choice made me sick the entire rest of the day. I had a headache, my tummy hurt ... man I really paid. After the movie we went to the mall and walked and walked. That part made me feel better.

We got home and I ate some real food. After I went running with Melissa. We walked/jogged a mile and half. It's good start. I'm really just trying to get into the habit so when I'm pregnant I will be used to it. My goal is to get to the point where we are running for three miles and then running bleachers.

Temple Date

Tyson had a free night on Thursday so we decided to head to the Temple. After being in traffic for an hour we missed the last session but were able to get into Sealings. Sealings are nice - they remind me of my own wedding and how awkward I felt because Tyson just STARED at me the entire time. He did the same thing here.

We took our turn at the Altar and after two names I started to feel really weird. I felt tingles, then dizzy, then the world started spinning around, then I saw black stars. The sweet temple worker stopped mid-sealing and asked if I was OK. At first I said I was fine - but then I started leaning back and knew I needed to lay down. Tyson picked me up off my knees and took me to a seat.

The sweet temple worker than started to tell how bending my knees for that long can stop blood from flowing properly and that many girls faint. Wow! I mean I've heard of brides doing that at the Temple but I just thought they were way to emotional - nope just a shortage of blood flow. After resting for 10 minutes we resumed the work and I did much better.

After we headed to A&W with a coupon for free root beer float. We only took one coupon in but the nice cashier gave each of us one! Wahoo!

Utah Trip

We just finished our trip to Utah for the Primerica big event. The event it self was amazing. Jimmy Myer spoke and taught about our self talk and that things we do to train our minds to win or lose. Lots of leaders spoke on being tough and spoke about how winning is a not a long race but lots of little races. It was great.

I also got to spend time with my best friend and with my family. Melynda picked me up from the airport and I slept over friday and saturday night. We talked well into the wee hours both nights. It always amazes me how her and I can talk and talk and talk. Not just about family and friends, but business, books, goals, church. Melynda makes me want to expand my mind into bigger better things. I got to see her sweet kids.

Sunday I drove to my parents house and spent the night there. I went to church with Julio - BUT not before my mom treated us to a the amazing brunch at the Grand America. This five-star restaurant is amazing. My mom has run the show for five years and is one of their most valuable leaders. Well away we went to eat. It was amazing. Prime rib, sushi, seafood cocktails, salmon ... I ate the really expensive stuff. After we headed to church - which was amazing.

After church we came home and decided that the whole family would go on a walk. We went to Gardner Village. It was so fun! We look at the with Wtiches, Martin and Julio tried to see who could jump the furthest. It was sweet! We came home and relaxed. We talked and talked but honestly by 10 pm I was so tired. So we called it a night.

Monday morning I headed to Melynda's house so she could give me a ride back to the airport. This makes me want to miss my family, but it was so sweet to see them. I love them so much. I'm so grateful for them.

I can't wait to see Tyson. i miss him and he wished he could stay.

Remember...... 9/11

Martha is always posting and I was really touched this weekend and wanted to share a post. Enjoy!!

I am so proud to be apart of a company that pays tribute to the families of those who died at the world trade centers. What company takes time to stop and show a video and have a moment of silence, to let us remember what we fight for....FREEDOM! As I watched this video their were so many emotions. #1 that people who died at the trade centers, OUR COMPANY PRIMERICA paid ALL the life insurance claims our clients had. When OTHER companies had WAR EXCLUSIONS and when President Bush declared it as an act of war, the OTHER companies DENIED THEIR LIFE INSURANCE POLICIES!!!! #2 Feeling proud to be an AMERICAN and so GREATFUL to those who fight for our freedom. So that things like this don't happen again! #3 Humbled by the fire fighters, police officers, and unknown hero's that risked their lives to save others. #4 Sad for the families that lost their loved ones and how precious our time on earth is.

I hope you enjoy this video, though it will tug you in everyway....

I just finished a "Better Off: Flipping the Switch on Technology".

The story follows a young couple (Eric & Mary) who feel like the world of new technology is making life more hectic rather than simplifying life. A main concern was the utter lack of human interaction that resulted from IM's, e-mails, iphones, phones ..etc. This couple set out to live with an amish-like community for 18 months and the book was all his discoveries - both good and bad. The most amazing part was that Mary became pregnant six months into it and had a homebirth.

I liked the book. I won't lie and say it's a top favorite; however it really got me thinking. Anyone that knows me knows how much I like "simple". Simple home, simple food, simple clothing, simple schedule. No, I'm not a peasant, but I hate stress. I hate feeling pulled in mulitiple directions. I hate pressure. So we have a life that is structured that way. No debt, no fancy stuff, good budgeting...etc. I love it. I love a simple life. Still this book made me realize that my "so-called" simple life is not, well that simple after all.

1. Tyson and I do have 2 cars - which really does create stress. Gas, maintanance, insurance, emissoins. I've always said that cars are a necesarry evil. I believe that. Sadly living in metro denver does not leave me with much of an option. My car is going strong. I am realizing how much I could venture into having only one car - hopefully in three years.

2. We have two computers. We bought a desktop for business purposes and still have Tyson's super old laptop. I won't lie and say it's not nice to be able to get on one whenever I want, but sometimes it feels like Tyson and I are just in two seperate rooms on the computer. I don't like that.

3. We live in a big city. The fact that since their experiment this couple has never lived in a place bigger than 3000 people has alot to do with their simple life. They just don't have the option to even compare themselves to their neighboors. I once said I would never live in a small community - but now having lived in two big cities - I yearn for smaller places with a less hurried mindset.

Overall I loved the book. I loved their deep perspective. I also love technology.I love to txt and NOT talk to people. So the end result is that I make a pretty crappy amish.

And the Good News Is...

1. I learned how to make foccacia bread. Yum.
2. I got killer deals on chicken and cereal at King Soopers.
3. I learned how I could save $40 in our budget every month.
4. I finished a great book "It's not about the bike" by Lance Armstrong.
5. I. Found. My. Purse.

Debbie called me to let me know that she was at the Cabin and she said a prayer. This prayer was that she could find my purse.

She went upstairs and went directly to where it was. Amazing! Prayer is so good. So real.

I am headed to Utah September 11th for a PFS event. I'll get it there.
